American History Hulk? The Incredible ED?

Variety reports that Edward Norton will take on the mantle of Bruce Banner/Hulk in the Marvel Studios movie “The Incredible Hulk”. Unlike the Ang Lee angst-filled, thirty-minutes-too-long, melodrama with the occasional kick-ass rage sequences, Marvel Studios intends “to make a sequel that is less self-serious and more in line with the comic series and TV show.”
The Good: Ed (Edward) Norton
“Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business,” Marvel Studios production president Kevin Feige said in a statement. “His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the bigscreen in a new and exciting way.”
Yes, Edward Norton is a versatile actor, stepping out of mainstream films (Kingdom of Heaven, Italian Job) to do some indie work (Down in the Valley, The Painted Veil, and The Illusionist). We know he’s got the chops, let’s hope he’ll put them to use in this film.
Another Good: Louis Leterrier
Having directed both Transporter movies and Unleashed, he pretty knows a lot about directing action sequences that kick (literally) ass. Let’s hope we see some gamma sized ass-kicking and not just punching gamma mutated animals in the genitals.
Probably Bad and Twice as Ugly: Zak Penn
His writing credits include: Last Action Hero, X2, Elektra, Fantastic Four, and X-men: The Last Stand. Need I say more?
The movie is currently in pre-production with an opening date of June 13, 2008 (Happy Birthday ‘Future’ Justin, I’ll take you to this movie and this will be my present. LOL). The film will be distributed by Universal Pictures. And yes, that’s my “photoshop +9″ work above.
