Assembly A+, Decals D+

USS Enterprise NCC-1701A : United Federation of Planets

I hate when the decals on a model aren’t given enough negative space on the sheet that you have to cut it out and work with a sliver of a paper, carefully wetting the decals in water and even more carefully getting the positioning right with the least amount of pressure applied lest you want to tear the decal into more little pieces. Whose idea was it to use water-based decals? Whatever happened to peel-off-stick-on and your done? I lost 4 decals, tearing them to shreds with either tweezers or my fingernails. These decals were the smallest ones too, making them harder to work with. Oh well, at least I got the big decals spot on as you can see above. I stuck with commissioning the ship the Enterprise A. Should I attempt another model like this again, I’ll skip the assembly and apply the decals first, let it dry for a few weeks, maybe put a protective coat on the decals if there is one, and then proceed with the assembly.
