A Misunderstanding Leads To Acknowledgement of My Existence

by LoneWolf on Apr.26, 2008, under Another Kodak Moment, Nerd Alert

ZOMG Warren Ellis Replied to ME!

Warren Ellis replied to my Twitter reply. Yes. THE WARREN F#$%ING ELLIS! Though his reply to me wasn’t anything profound (or maybe it was?), he just wanted to let me know that I misunderstood his tweet. Backstory: About 18 hours ago he mentioned BrightKite. For those of you who don’t know what it is, think of it as a GPS app, that doesn’t need GPS hardware. If you want to let everyone in the bloody world know where you are, or where you have been going, this is what BrightKite does. My friend, SpecialDark, used it one day, and to me it was cool at first. But after the 10th bajillion tweet (/over-exaggeration) of “I’m at [location name] at [location address].” I was seriously annoyed, replying with a few tweets of my own with much sarcasm.

So when I saw that tweet, I thought of a reply that would show my distaste for BrightKite but without being labeled a ‘hater’. When I had finally posted it, I noticed that Warren had replied to someone else saying that BrightKite was not his can of RedBull (avoiding the tea cliche). My reply to his earlier tweet, came after this recent tweet. So it kinda look like I misunderstood his tweet to him. Making him reply to me, saying I failed basic reading comprehension. LOL

I didn’t want to explain that my reply tweet was to his earlier tweet so I just replied that I was rather speechless that he replied to me. It’s cool when someone you read about, read their writings, and, for the lack of a better term, admire acknowledges your existence. Especially when I’m no one of great importance or fame, I’m just a commoner.
