RE5: SHOOTER Control Scheme

It was revealed at this year’s Tokyo Game Show that Resident Evil 5 will have a control scheme that incorporates the ability to strafe with your character.
As hinted at in an earlier producer interview, Resident Evil 5 does indeed have an optional control scheme that is more in line with the third-person shooter genre. The left analogue stick now allows you to strafe to the left and right, with aiming (enabled via the left trigger) and turning assigned to the right analogue stick. The controls are a step away from Resident Evil 4′s tank controls and feel considerably more familiar and intuitive. ~ Joystiq
I enjoyed RE4′s switch to semi-third person, but often wished strafing was incorporated. It would have made looking around corners easier by just hugging the wall and strafing instead of just turning the body completely move one step and turn back to view. I’m also thankful that this Shooter scheme just allows for strafing and not the run-and-gun motif. After all, it is a survival-horror game, not an action shooter. As the Joystiq articles says, you either RUN or SHOOT, not both.
