It’s New Comic Book Day!

by on May.29, 2009, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

It’s been a rough week, budget-wise since Serena got back from North Carolina. So this week, we weren’t able to pick up all of our comics waiting for us at Keith’s Komix yesterday night. Since Keith is such an awesome guy, he’s allowing us to pick up the rest of our comics next week. Not wanting to go home empty handed, we each picked up one comic book from the pile to hold us over til the next pick-up. However, here’s a list of what was in our pull for this week.

  • DELLEC # 0
  • FATHOM # 7
  • GIGANTIC # 4
  • GREEN LANTERN # 41
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA # 33
  • JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA # 27
  • RUNAWAYS # 10
  • TEEN TITANS # 71
  • TRINITY # 52
  • WOLVERINE # 72
  • WOLVERINE: ORIGINS # 36
  • X-FORCE # 15
  • X-MEN: LEGACY # 224

THE ONE COMIC BOOK I BROUGHT HOME: GREEN LANTERN # 41

GREEN LANTERN # 41

Written by Geoff Johns; Art and Cover by Philip Tan and Jonathan Glapion; Variant Cover by Rodolfo Migliari
Prelude to BLACKEST NIGHT! In “Agent Orange” part 3, the truth behind the eternally corrupt Vega System is finally revealed and the Green Lantern Corps will pay dearly for uncovering the secret. Meanwhile, the greed of Agent Orange knows no bounds as his demand for the universe explodes. Plus, Hal continues to struggle with the abilities of his new power ring.

THE ONE COMIC BOOK SERENA BROUGHT HOME: DELLEC # 0

DELLEC # 0

Sometimes, evil should be afraid. His name is Dellec. A working class family man. A highly skilled metal fabricator. A man who will be forced to risk everything — including his own existence, to purge the world of all its treacherous forms of ill repute. However, what if that evil he seeks to destroy is also the very same force that created him? And what if this being was more than mortal altogether? The blazing fires of damnation reign down upon one man in this epic tale of vengeance, loss, and despair as Dellec attempts to not only battle immortality itself, but also the very perception of faith its strength is built upon.

After picking up both FINAL CRISIS AFTERMATH books: RUN! and ESCAPE, I’ve decided not to pick up the rest of the mini-series or the other ones (DANCE and INK). The stories seem rather uninteresting and don’t provide any more clarity on the interesting, yet complex, story that was FINAL CRISIS. I’m dropping GEAR OF WAR. It’s not a bad title, but it’s not a title I need to keep up with on a monthly basis. With BATMAN still “dead” and THE BATTLE FOR THE COWL ending in a way that didn’t seem logical to me, I’m still curious to see what happens next. So I’m considering picking up the new BATMAN AND ROBIN series due out next month. Then there’s also RED ROBIN out next month too. Looks like I might have to cut a few more titles *looks at Marvel Comics*. If anything stands out to Serena on the Marvel side, I’d rather get it for her in graphic novel form so it’s all collected for her in one bound edition she can read and use for future reference.
