It’s New Comic Book Day!

Pretty light pick up today and I’m thankful for that because last week’s pick up was a killer of funds. This week’s pile is full of worthwhile reading even though there are no BLACKEST NIGHT tie-ins. I don’t really have any real complaints about any title, although Serena’s complaint about how she wished the cover artist of this month’s CABLE, Dave Wilkins, also did the interiors. His portrayal of Hope looks about right whereas the Hope in the interior art looks less like a child and more like a little woman with barely an A-cup. It’s like a woman’s head is drawn a sexless body. I know time-traveling can be confusing but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t age or de-age the the traveler when you can only go forward.
DEADPOOL’s last story arc felt a bit shallow. The title started off full of awesomeness battling Skrulls and then reaching higher levels with the THUNDERBOLTS crossover, MAGNUM OPUS, and then just blowing my mind with the whole battle of wits and the witless with HAWKEYE (aka BULLSEYE). This last arc with the whole pirate motif felt a bit lackluster. With a new arc starting up in this week’s issue, let’s just hope the last story was a calm before the ‘AWESOME’ storm.

MY PICK OF THE PILE: BUFFY SEASON 8 # 28
Oh, hello there, gentle viewers . . . This month we revisit Team Buffy and her army of Slayers at Oz’s temple in the mountains of Tibet. Among the yaks, the Slayers and Wiccan troops attempt to suppress dangerous Magicks through meditation and hard labor. Buffy embraces this new lifestyle, but not everyone is convinced that leaving Magicks behind will solve any problems: among them, a resistant Willow, a doubtful Andrew, and a concerned Giles.
For Buffy, the world has not been so peaceful . . . so honest . . . so full of feeling . . . in a long time — too bad it’s not going to stay that way!

I love Jo Chen’s cover artwork. Dark Horse, please put all these fantastic covers in one oversized hardcover filled all kinds of cool extras with an awesome forward by Joss Whedon. I would <3 you 4EVAR!
