Borderlands Patch In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning
by LoneWolf on Oct.29, 2009, under A Geek and His Games, Nerd Alert
Borderlands has been out for over a week and half now. And despite it’s awesomeness, it still had a few critical bugs that definitely made gamers cry ‘foul’ and got the attention of the devs, Gearbox. Since those first cries, Gearbox didn’t waste any time working a patch.
An update for the 360 version of Borderlands will be deployed tomorrow, 10/30, at 2am CST. This update will include fixes for issues that some 360 users have been experiencing.
Many issues have been addressed here, but we are continuing work on support updates for all platforms, and will deploy fixes for every version as soon as possible and continue to support all platforms. If you are experiencing an issue that has not been addressed, please post on our technical support forums and let us know!
Update notes:
- Fixed a bug which caused players and other things in the world to appear incorrectly on clients in networked games
- fixed a bug in which players gibbed in arena combat disappeared
- fixed a bug which caused the dollars counter to spin continuously
- fixed a bug that caused the digger elevator to be unusable after completing the Find Tannis mission
- Weapon mapping to the D-pad should no longer reverse left and right
- various localization and other text and tooltip corrections
- The introductory quests with CL4P-TP should now always progress properly all the time
- Lilith’s Phase Strike ability now works as intended
- Load times have been improved

It’s New Comic Book Day!
by LoneWolf on Oct.29, 2009, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics
Lots of great DC Comics picked up today! BLACKEST NIGHT continues to shake things up in the DCU with BLACKEST NIGHT # 4, BLACKEST NIGHT: TITANS #3, and GREEN LANTERN # 47. Also in the DC pile are ever-growing Batman titles. This week it’s BATMAN, DETECTIVE COMICS and my newest title added, GOTHAM CITY SIRENS.
With imitation being a the sincerest form of flattery, Marvel’s X-titles cross over through NECROSHA, starting this week with NECROSHA ONE-SHOT and continues in NEW MUTANTS # 6.
When the dead and buried mutant past comes back to haunt the X-Men, can the combined might of the three X-Teams stop death itself?
So yet another undead uprising begins. But just how well does it compare to BLACKEST NIGHT? We’ll be finding that out throughout the rest of the year and into Spring 2010 when this arc concludes.
- BATMAN # 692
- BLACKEST NIGHT # 4
- BLACKEST NIGHT: TITANS # 3
- DETECTIVE COMICS # 858
- GOTHAM CITY SIRENS # 5

- HALO: HELLJUMPER # 4
- JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA # 32
- NEW MUTANTS # 6
- TEEN TITANS # 76
- WOLVERINE: ART APPRECIATION
- X NECROSHA ONE-SHOT # 1
- X-FACTOR # 50
- X-FORCE # 20
PICK OF THE WEEK: BLACKEST NIGHT # 4

Written by Geoff Johns; Art and cover by Ivan Reis and Oclair Albert; Variant cover by Ethan Van Sciver; Sketch variant cover by Ivan Reis
Summer’s hottest event explodes in this critical issue! Hold on to your power rings, because the secrets behind the Blackest Night finally stand revealed! While Earth is evacuated, Hal Jordan embarks on a brave journey to the darkest depths to uncover the truth behind the Black Lanterns! You won’t believe what he uncovers!
Continuing the best-selling epic from superstars Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis!
So far I’ve been enjoying this series and it’s tie-ins. It’s a little more straight forward than FINAL CRISIS, and a lot more interesting than SECRET INVASION. With only 4 issues left, I’m hoping for the story to reach a high peak, if it hasn’t by now, and end with a really impressive conclusion.

Yahtzee Brutalizes Brutal Legend
by LoneWolf on Oct.29, 2009, under On Teh Internets
Having played both Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, I prefer Psychonauts over Brutal Legend. Brutal Legend has a few flaws in it’s gameplay but it was an awesome attempt at mixing open world gameplay with real time strategy. I just wish the RTS portion was a bit more polished in the controls. Overall, I enjoyed the game, it’s wildly fantastical story, and it’s graphical style. It definitely is a Tim Schafer game to me. Having Jack Black, Tim Curry, Jennifer Hale, as well as rock icons like Lemmy from Motorhead and Ozzy Osbourne lend their voices and looks (except for Tim Curry, he played Doviculus) was an awesome bonus. The soundtrack is phenomenal and I hope that there will be an official soundtrack, maybe with an artbook, released in the future.
