It’s New Comic Book Day!

by on May.19, 2010, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

Keith has been busy cleaning up the place but still managed to get our comics ready for when we walked through the door. BRIGHTEST DAY continues this week with issue # 2. I’m also looking forward to THE LEGION OF SUPERHEROES as they start a new volume. X-MEN PIXIE STRIKES BACK is wrapping up with issue # 4 but Serena is most excited about THE MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ. All in all, there’s some pretty good reading ahead of us.

This week we have:

  • BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM # 12
  • BRIGHTEST DAY # 2
  • DEADPOOL # 23
  • DV8: GODS AND MONSTERS # 2
  • JOE THE BARBARIAN # 5
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA # 45
  • THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES # 1
  • THE MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ # 6
  • SOULFIRE # 5
  • X-MEN: PIXIE STRIKES BACK # 4

BRIGHTEST DAY # 2

BRIGHTEST DAY continues, but in ways you can’t possibly expect! What does BRIGHTEST DAY mean to the DC Universe? Is everything from here on out going to be bright and shiny? No, BRIGHTEST DAY means something else entirely, something we can’t tell you…yet. But we can tell you our heroes will need to rise up more than ever to combat the forces of evil, and a select few will uncover a secret that binds them ALL.

THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES # 1

THE LEGION OF SUPERHEROES # 1

Fan-favorite LEGION writer Paul Levitz returns to the 31st century super team he made supreme with an all-new intergalactic era! This exciting series picks up on threads from Geoff Johns’s “Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes” storyline and creates its own all-new ones, including a Green Lantern Corps tie-in and the destruction of a major planet! Rocket on board here as Levitz and rising star artist Yildiray Cinar (TEEN TITANS) revitalize one of DC’s most beloved franchises starting with an oversized first issue with a Variant cover by superstar artist Jim Lee!

SERENA’S PICK OF THE WEEK: THE MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ # 6

THE MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ # 6

COVER BY: SKOTTIE YOUNG
WRITER: Eric Shanower
PENCILS: SKOTTIE YOUNG
INKS: Skott Young

THE STORY:
Tie together a couple of sofas, a few palm leaves, a mounted deer’s head, and what do you get? A flying machine! That’s right. It’s the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman’s big escape from the Army of Revolt. But just when safety beckons, the Oz folks find they’re headed for a crash. If only they could puzzle out the magic spell to make Dr. Nikidik’s Patented Wishing Pills work!

HAPPY READING!
