Household FX
Phase 2, Almost 1 Year Later…

It was Serena’s day off today so we decided to go to IKEA for lunch. I had the usual, Swedish Meatballs, with extra Lingonberry sauce, and she had the Chicken Marsala. Well, actually we were shopping and got hungry while at IKEA. We decided to complete our Bonde TV stand by getting the TV hutch. It took a little longer to put together only because I had to re-organize the cables in the back, and came up with a nifty way to store my videogame charging units. I placed them in the drawer and just feed the power cords over and behind the drawer to the power strip housed in the back. The cords don’t bunch up as the drawer opens and closes as easily as it did before.

We decided to not use the glass shelves in the cubbies since we were putting mostly our DVD boxsets in there vertically instead of horizontally. The cubbies are pretty deep but we thought putting dvds behind the boxsets wouldn’t look good at all.

All in all, the tv stand looks even better with the hutch. What’s next? We’re holding off on the bookcases until we get our own place, a townhome or condo. So maybe next year we’ll get actual dressers for the bedroom and ditch the dorm room plastic drawers.

p.s. Those pictures of Stephen Colbert (pronounced kohl-bear) are purely coincidental as I was focused with the framing of the hutch on camera and not paying attention to the TV.

The Bonde TV Stand. Finally Serena and I have decided on a bookcase/media storage solution. The Bonde series at IKEA offers more flexibility in terms of bookcases, by offering doors of all types to keep dust and rabbits out of the spaces. It will take some time, but soon we’ll have our books and DVDs in their proper places instead of in boxes.
