Al Franken (D.-Minn.) told more than 2,000 bloggers and organizers attending the Netroots Nation conference in Las Vegas on July 24, 2010, that our media system is at risk everywhere we turn – from our free speech online to the growing power of companies who own a massive number of media outlets.

Excerpts from Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space. More specifically, from the chapter titled A Universe Not Made For Us. I edited together the audio from the audio-book, and added the video from Stephen Hawking’s Into the Universe and Brian Cox’s Wonders of the Solar System.

Awesome video. If you can, definitely get Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot. It’s a great read. Or get the audiobook online at the usual places.

In the following clip, Jon Stewart brings to light the sad reality about this nation’s attempts at seriously pursuing alternative energy sources in my lifetime:
