17 Years Old Plus 14 Years Experience

Today is my birthday! In honor of this momentous occasion, I have compiled a list of 31 things you may or may not know about yours truly.

• 31. I love whiskey. I’m drinking some now as I write this.
• 30. I love to travel and someday Serena and I will travel the world.
• 29. I once watched 5 movies in one day, at the movie theatre.
• 28. I have liked Star Trek more than Star Wars ever since Hayden Christensen ruined the prequel trilogy by attempting to act.
• 27. When I feel really frustrated, I clean. Afterwards, I feel more energized.
• 26. I have fired the following weapons: M16A2 Rifle, M9 Pistol, M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun, M203 Grenade Launcher, M240G Medium Machine Gun, M203 40mm Grenade Launcher, M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) Light Machine Gun, and the AT4 (Light anti-armor weapon).
• 25. The lowest I ever got my Brain Age to be was 24. Now it’s probably back up to 50.
• 24. I read comics. Not a casual reader, I’m the comic book nerd of my family. I used to spend more money on videogames than comics. Now, it’s the exact opposite.
• 23. I play videogames, a lot. I consider myself a gamer. I’m not the competitive type. I tend to play more for fun and to keep my eyesight from going bad.
• 22. When I have the money to buy groceries, I love to cook.
• 21. I have a Yin-Yang tattoo on my chest, above my left nipple.
• 20. I have three rabbits their names are: Super Positronic Giga Chippie, Quantum Pulsar Nano Byte, and Hyper Mezzo Tera Flop.
• 19. I talk to my rabbits so I don’t feel weird talking to myself.
• 18. I like to play this game with Serena on long drives in which we go back and forth on names for our future children. Most of the ones I come up with are derived either from: a. Star Trek, b. Comics, c. Videogames.
• 17. I blog mostly for myself. I find it to be a great creative writing exercise. Plus it keeps my family in the loop of what I’ve been doing.
• 16. Before I blogged, I wrote poetry. I used to write a poem at least twice a month. The last real, meaningful, poem I wrote was on October 23, 2007.
• 15. I own the complete sets of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly. Joss Whedon is a masterful storyteller.
• 14. I am very PC oriented. I am usually the first person anyone in my family goes to when it comes to PC problems. Just ask Jason. One time I was able to bring 4 of his PCs back from the brink of being taken out back for a classic ‘Office Space’ beatdown.
• 13. My eyes can sometimes become over-sensitive to light. This is a result of a flashbang going off too close to me.
• 12. The only two things I really got out of college are: A stronger bond with my younger brother, and a wonderful girlfriend. My education was a joke.
• 11. I collect models, maquettes, and action figures of my favorite sciFi shows, comic books, and videogames.
• 10. I don’t follow politics and I hate talking about it. But I strongly believe Barack Obama is the right President to lead this nation to truly change for the better.
• 9. I sometimes have strong ‘Ally McBeal’ moments - when you picture yourself reacting solely on your emotions in that exact moment. Most of them have reflected strong feelings of anger, rage and hatred. The strongest one I ever had was on August 13, 2007.
• 8. I also have a tendency to run scenarios in my head when I am in a public place like the movie theatre, a restaurant or department store. What if a fire broke out? What if someone decided to bully me or the person/group I was with? These scenarios tend to be violent.
• 7. I hate kids on Heelys, especially when they are in a public place. I often wish they would seriously injure themselves because of their parents’ stupidity of letting them wear those damn things in a place other than the park.
• 6. Green Lantern is my favorite superhero. It’s not just the character of Hal Jordan, it’s the core concept of a Green Lantern that I find interesting: Strong will and the ability to overcome great fear. The ring of a Green Lantern is merely a tool, a means of output. The true power lies in the ring wearer’s strength of will. The stronger one’s will power is, the stronger the power ring becomes.
• 5. The only news shows I watch are the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. Why? They don’t BS you like all the other news media groups. The only reason I laugh is because of the way the news is presented.
• 4. I like watching the interesting/informative/educational cable channels. Discovery, History, Military, Biography, Science, Travel, Food Network, Bravo, A&E, TLC and the SciFi channel are the most viewed on my TV. I wish I could just pay for these channels and get rid of everything else.
• 3. My favorite scene in Stephen King’s THE MIST was when the over zealous Christian woman was shot in the face. When I saw that in theatres the whole audience cheered with me!
• 2. I truly believe we need a global disaster, an extinction level event, to bring this world together and get rid of all the @$$#0!3s. Forget super volcanoes and global warming, bring on the alien invasion and that goddamn asteroid!
• 1. I no longer consider myself Catholic. Nothing is predetermined by some higher being. I believe “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.” The only faith I have is that in myself; to live happily as if it were my last day on Earth. Therefore everyday is a good day to die.
