It’s New Comic Book Day!

Lots of great DC Comics in this week’s pick up at Keith’s Komix. BRIGHTEST DAY continues. A new mystery unfolds as the new BATMAN AND ROBIN confront the Joker who was posing as Oberon Sexton. I’m not liking the issues artist, Frazer Irving. Also I think the letterer, Patrick Brosseau, missed a few sound effects and the art therefore felt kinda bland without it. I don’t know if it was the artist request or the style of the letterer. No complaints about Grant Morrison’s writing though. I went a little variant crazy, picking up the variant covers of DC’s flagship titles hitting another issue milestone. My weekend is gonna be full of some great reading!

This week’s pull features the climactic end to DC’S BLACKEST NIGHT and, coincidentally, the mediocre end of MARVEL’s NECROSHA. But where one giant story arc ends, another begins. However, as I said before, I’ve had to cut back on our weekly pickup. So I’ll continue on with DC’s BRIGHTEST DAY as well as THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE, and skip on X-MEN’S SECOND COMING as well as the relaunching of the AVENGERS titles.
- This week we’ve got:
- BLACKEST NIGHT # 8
- DETECTIVE COMICS # 863
- JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA # 43
- JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA # 37
- THE OUTSIDERS # 28
- TEEN TITANS # 81
- X-FORCE # 25

The extra-sized conclusion to the most talked-about event in comics is here, and the results will change the course of the DC Universe for years to come. Earth has become the final battleground for life versus death, but how will our heroes fight back against the darkness of sentient space itself? And what does the future hold for Green Lantern, The Flash and the rest of the world’s greatest heroes and villains? Find out here as the stage is set for the next epic era of DC Comics!
Keith also hooked me up with something pretty cool. He found the Halo 3 Field of Battle Red Spartan 11 Inch Statue Figure by Kotobukiya on clearance and sold it to me for $30!

Thanks Keith!

Hitting the top of the list as a ‘MUST-READ’ once it’s paid for and rightfully yours, we have GREEN LANTERN # 52. Aspen Comics is making Serena happy as SOULFIRE # 3 hit the shelves today. And I get suckered by Mark Millar and picked up NEMESIS # 1, in which the cover says in bold white letters “MAKES KICK-ASS LOOK LIKE $#!T”. To my surprise Serena also picked up THE GUILD # 1. She’s only seen a few episodes of the web series. Now I’ve got a reason to buy the seasons on DVD. Hung out at Keith’s Komix for a bit before checking out just to catch up with the regulars. Discussions included: Theories on who is the Red Hulk, The Awesomeness of The X-files, Millennium, and Supernatural.

BLACKEST NIGHT’S penultimate chapter is here, and you do not want to miss this issue. Trust us on this one.
Pretty short description isn’t it? The cover pretty much says it all. BLACKEST NIGHT is coming to a close and it looks like this story will keep peaking until its end. Let’s just hope that BRIGHTEST DAY can do the same and deliver an amazing story worth investing in.
