It’s New Comic Book Day!
by LoneWolf on Jan.23, 2011, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics
It has been a busy week for both of us and this weekend hasn’t been able to slow us down. This past Thursday’s visit to Keith’s Komix was loads of laughs as usual and I tried a Terrasaur army in Monsterpocalypse and bested my friend, Sidney, in a skirmish on a map that I thought would be advantageous to me but in the end was a bit of a pain in the ass battle in. And once again, my units landed the killing blow to Sidney’s monster ending what ended being a very close match and it all coming down to the dice.
As for our comic books, here’s what we got:
- BATMAN #706
- BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM #19
- BRIGHTEST DAY #18
- BUFFY SEASON 8 #40
- GREEN LANTERN CORPS #56
- JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #53
- THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #9
- POWER GIRL #20
- SUPERIOR #4
- WOLVERINE & JUBILEE #1
MY PICK OF THE WEEK: BUFFY SEASON 8 #40

Season Eight has at last brought Buffy the long way home, and betrayal comes in the shape of the closest, most unexpected individual of all. Reeling from their losses, the Scoobies will never be the same again.
Series creator Joss Whedon and series artist Georges Jeanty bring you the biggest Buffy finale ever!
SERENA’S PICK OF THE WEEK: WOLVERINE & JUBILEE #1

STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PAGES OF X-MEN AND RIGHT INTO THE JUGULAR!
Jubilee is about as far away from the ideal X-Man as it is possible for a 17-year-old minty fresh vampire to be. While the X-Men try to find a way to give her as normal a life as is inhumanly feasible, her decidedly abnormal vampire cravings will not be denied.
Between that and her newfound powers, she’s winning the fights but not the popularity contests among most of the other X-Kids. Most…but not all.
And just when Jubilee starts to think that there is no place for her anywhere, a group of vampire women make her an offer she can’t refuse. It seems like the perfect solution, unless Wolverine has anything to say about it!

It’s New Comic Book Day! – Quarantine Lifted Edition
by LoneWolf on Dec.05, 2010, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics
This past whole week I was sick. After having been given medication and a strict rule of one week of isolation, I have survived the worst of it. I have been cleared by my doctor as well enough to have the quarantine lifted but to continue my medication for another week. So I return to work tomorrow, but before that happens, I decided to treat myself with a trip to Keith’s Komix to pick up last week’s releases that I missed.

It’s New Comic Book Day!
by LoneWolf on Nov.05, 2010, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics
Serena had a great time yesterday night at Keith’s Komix! This week was pretty light but well rounded. Serena is excited for OZMA OF OZ # 1 and SCOURGE # 2. BRIGHTEST DAY continues for me and I’m also looking forward to BUFFY SEASON 9 # 38! As Serena worked on some pages for her special project with writer, Alverne Ball, I played some Monsterpocalypse against Keith. He decided to give his Empire of Apes army a try against my Subterran Army. It was a rough battle as his Ape Alpha Monster took out my Subterran Alpha Monster early on the game. Forcing me into a defensive posture with my Subterran Hyper Monster, I kept my distance and used range attacks. Combined with my monster’s ability to knock his monster after the range attack hit, I slowly wore down his Ape Monster and beat him with one wound (life bar) left!
This week we have:
- BATMAN AND ROBIN # 16
- BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL # 50
- BRIGHTEST DAY # 13
- BUFFY SEASON 8 # 38
- DV8: GODS AND MONSTERS # 8
- JSA ALL-STARS # 12
- OZMA OF OZ # 1
- THE SCOURGE # 2
MY PICK OF THE WEEK: BUFFY SEASON 8 # 38

Writer: Joss Whedon, Scott Allie
Penciller: Georges Jeanty
Inker: Andy Owens
Colorist: Michelle Madsen
Cover Artist: Jo Chen
Genre: Action/AdventureWhile Super Buffy is fighting side by side with Spike in Sunnydale, Angel is on the other side of the world fighting demons of his own. As Twilight he was given a clear mission in regard to Buffy–help her reach the next plane, together create a new world, and end all suffering. But Buffy doesn’t play by the rules, and this “higher plane” and a lifetime of happiness with Angel wasn’t gonna cut it–not if she had to sacrifice her family to keep it. And now Angel has to answer for his failings as Twilight–willingly or not.
Back in Sunnydale everyone is fighting for their lives against a horde of demons, and someone close to Buffy joins forces with a villain from the past to strive for a common goal–protect the seed.
The finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight is in full effect, and you won’t want to miss a single beat of Joss Whedon and Georges Jeanty’s fateful conclusion years in the making.
