It’s New Comic Book Day!

by LoneWolf on Jul.01, 2010, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

Yesterday’s trip to Keith’s Komix had a bit of surprise. ASTONISHING X-MEN # 34 FINALLY hit the shelf! It’s been so long since I read this title that I had completely forgot that the ‘eXogenic’ story by Warren Ellis was still going on. So I guess it will be another 6-9 months before issue 35 hits the shelves and the story will either continue or conclude then. Aspen’s MINDFIELD finally launches and Serena and I are both excited for this new original series written by J.T. Krul with art by Alex Konat! The ‘Dark Things’ storyline between the JLA an JSA kicks off and BRIGHTEST DAY continues in GREEN LANTERN. Finally, we picked up a copy of COVER RUN: THE DC COMICS ART OF ADAM HUGHES as our hardcover of the week.

It’s New Comic Book Day!

by LoneWolf on Jun.23, 2010, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

The weather has been pretty wet with thunderstorms today but there was a brief moment of sunshine and that’s when we made our run to Keith’s Komix. Our pick-up is pretty DC heavy, which is never a bad thing. I’ve decided to continue picking up Power Girl because I’ve never read a bad Judd Winick story and Serena likes Sami Basri’s art style. BATMAN: THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE continues this week and I’m all the more curious about Bruce’s current predicament and how the world’s greatest detective will resolve it. In the light of BRIGHTEST DAY, GREEN ARROW # 1 kicks off. What is the deal with the Star Forest exactly and why is Ollie all up in that?! This weekend’s readings will surely be enjoyable as always. DC NATION FTW!

  • BATMAN: THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE # 3

Featuring the dynamic artwork of YANICK PAQUETTE.

SERENA’S PICK OF THE WEEK: POWER GIRL # 13

POWER GIRL # 13

Power Girl dives headfirst into the next chapter of her life on Earth with new series writer Judd Winick (JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST) and artist Sami Basri (THE SHIELD)! And what events will draw her to her former JLI teammates from JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST?

HARDCOVER PICK OF THE WEEK: JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRY FOR JUSTICE

JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRY FOR JUSTICE

Written by JAMES ROBINSON; Art and cover by MAURO CASCIOLI

A new team of heroes – Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Supergirl, Atom, Shazam, Congorilla and Starman – unite to take a proactive approach to fighting crime! Following the deaths of JLA heroes Batman and Martian Manhunter, this new team stands determined to stop evil from ever striking so drastically again. But when Prometheus plans his revenge on the heroes, will this new team be ready to pay the cost for the justice they seek?

This has been out for some time now but I just got mine in the mail the other day from Amazon. It was a fantastic read. Thank you James Robinson for what looks to be as one of the most important stories of the Justice League ever to have been told! Definitely a must have hardcover graphic novel!

It’s New Comic Book Day!

by LoneWolf on Jun.16, 2010, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

It was suppose to be a light week in comic books. But today’s visit was one of those: “Hey when did this come out?!” and “How did I miss this?!” days and what was a short stack of reading became a moderate stack of catching up. C’est la vie! FOUR EYES finally concludes. I thought I missed the last issue but it was just late… 12 months late. Complete spaced out on BERSERKER and picked up the last two issues I missed. And a new MAGDALENA series caught Serena’s eye so she picked up the first two issues.

Since Mombi hid Ozma long ago no one has ever been able to find her.
