Replacement Elite Unboxed
by LoneWolf on Oct.16, 2008, under Getting Technomological

My replacement *ahem* NEW Xbox 360 Elite console came in yesterday. The unboxing was filled with the usual: Letter of apology, Quality Service Survey, How To Re-Sync Your Wireless Controllers, a note about Downloadable Content, a FREE 1 month card for Xbox LIVE, and the console.
The total time for turnaround was 7 business days, or a week and a half. The console I received was pristine in condition. In fact I think the console is actually new. There are no nicks, scratches or visible signs of use. The RF receiver was still covered with a little piece of plastic. The sticker on the back with the serial number and product ID number was still intact. And when I popped off the faceplate, the M$ sticker, the one you shouldn’t remove or tear unless you wanna crack the system open and void your warranty, was intact as well.
However it’s not UBER new, as in, manufactured 3-6 months earlier. The manufacturing date on the back sticker says June 2007. Nevertheless, the smell of the console tells me that this baby has never been powered on. Hopefully, this is one of the consoles with the newer innards to prevent the RRoD. Thanks you, Micro$oft for owning up to your failure. I wish other companies were like you, *flicks off Circuit City and Dell*.

My Xbox 360 Elite R.I.P. April 29, 2007 – Oct. 3, 2008

Am I pissed off, not really. I knew when I bought the Elite that it would still fall prey to the RRoD. I am a bit disappointed that my Elite didn’t last more than two years. The replacement process has gotten extremely faster now that I don’t have to wait for them to send me a box. They sent me the shipping label via email and all I had to do was box it up and drop it off at my local UPS Store. I won’t be going through Xbox 360 withdrawal though, I still have my Xbox 360 Halo console. The Elite was sent out yesterday to the Scrapyard (the Repair/Refurb Center) in Mesquite, TX. Hopefully, it’s replacement, will be in by the end of next week.
