Upgraded back to XP

by on Dec.22, 2007, under Getting Technomological

After a year long trial run, I’ve upgraded back to XP. My computer runs faster and multitasks a lot easier now then when it ran Vista. The Vista experience could be so much better if Vista didn’t suck a lot. Here a list of the top 5 things that annoyed me the most:

  • 5) Ghost files/folders: Trying to delete a file or folder and you get a pop-up saying that the said file or folder does not exist. But you see it in front of you and you cannot do anything to get rid of it. Ever.
  • 4) Waking up to find that your PC rebooted in the middle of the night and all your windows have been closed.
  • 3) The rating system that grades your system’s components is just a way for the computer industry to make more money by telling you your PC parts need to be upgraded to have a better Vista experience.
  • 2) Random system monitor would shut down and would not tell me what it was monitoring or why it shut down.
  • 1) The annoying question boxes when doing any simple task: Are you sure you want to perform the operation? If I didn’t want Vista to do something, I wouldn’t have told it to do so.

At some point, I think all the PC vs. Mac tv ads have covered these gripes. If I had money, I would’ve spent it on a Macbook Pro and call it Justin Long for short. But since money is lacking, and I still had my XP cd, upgrading back to XP was the most logical choice.
