Tweeting On The Next Level of AWESOMENESS!

TWHIRL: Tweeting On The Next Level of AWESOMENESS!

I was rather twitter-happy today. Not because it was Friday, but because I was using this sweet new desktop app for tweeting called Twhirl.

What is twhirl?

twhirl is a desktop twitter client, based on the Adobe AIR platform.

    Some of twhirl’s features:

  • runs on both Windows (2000/XP/Vista) and Mac OSX
  • connects to multiple Twitter accounts
  • notifications on new tweets
  • shorten long URLs (using snurl or is.gd)
  • cross-post updates to Pownce and Jaiku
  • post images to TwitPic
  • search tweets (using TweetScan or terraminds)
  • timeline filtering
  • localized to English, German, Italian and Spanish
  • color schemes
  • automatically check for new versions

There are a lot more things twhirl can do to improve your twitter experience, and it offers various configuration options to adapt to your personal needs.

I no longer have to refresh my Twitter page, or have it using up a tab in FFOX. Twhirl auto-updates and there’s a notification sound you can turn on or off. I may have to turn it OFF so that I don’t get annoyed with the constant update of some of my friends’ Xbox LIVE alerts. I also don’t have to jump back and forth from TinyURL since Twhirl’s built in URL shortener works just as good. There are a plethora of color schemes too in case you don’t like the default one (pictured above). I found the slick “Black Magic” color scheme goes well with my current desktop theme!

Thanks to Warren Ellis for leading me to this awesome desktop app. I follow him on twitter like a closet fanboy and noticed the “via twhirl” tag on his last tweet and clicked on it. See old people are still good for something! LOL j/k Warren, don’t kill me.

This piece of tech is the sexiest piece of tech not bought by me! LOL Originally I was using Froogle to search for the cheapest Wacom Intuos3 9 x 12 tablet since it was being sold at full price on Wacom’s site. However, when Jason pointed out the Special Edition and I saw that the price was a pretty good one for all the extra goodies you get, I showed it to Serena. She caved in and decided to buy it.

Thanks to Jason for being our enabler, yet again. LOL
