Sometime ago, Serena and I watch The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. I was really up to writing a non-movie critic-esque review simply because I wasn’t sure I would be able to accurately describe how the film made me feel. Then one night we were watching The Daily Show and John Stewart accurately described the movie better than I ever would have done so. Here’s the clip:

So there you have it in a nutshell. I really did enjoy the film but it was just too painful to sit through. The film really couldn’t keep me as interested as I had hoped it would after watching the trailer. It felt really drawn out and rather depressing despite the core idea behind the film. It just didn’t click with me. And by the end, I was like, ‘MEH’. As the credits rolled, I made a joke that it would have been cool if he reverted back into a fetus and got stored in a jar for future scientific study. But even that joke wasn’t enough to keep me from realizing that I had just wasted 2 hours and 46 minutes of my life.

Is it worth owning when it hits the shelves in DVD or Blu-Ray? In my honest opinion, no. Just rent it from Netflix cause I guarantee you’ll need as much time as you can get to really try and sit through this movie. You’ll start watching, then get bored and stop it. Come back to it again and 10 minutes later, your wanting to do something else. At some point you’ll return it to Netflix cause you want something else and leave it in your queue to rent some other time. Then you’ll keep pushing it further down in your queue until you finally decide to remove it.
