Warren Ellis’ GI JOE: RESOLUTE
by LoneWolf on Apr.20, 2009, under On Teh Internets, TeeVoh This
In case you haven’t been able to catch GI JOE: RESOLUTE on Adult Swim, the first 5 episodes are now on youTube. Written by Warren Ellis, GI JOE: RESOLUTE is a series of 10 five-minute shorts (a la THE CLONE WARS animated series) to be capped off by a 10-minute finale. The full one-hour movie is scheduled to be shown on Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” block on Saturday, April 25th. With a more serious tone similar to the comic books, GI JOE: RESOLUTE is far different than what we used to watch as kids and is better than the latest GI JOE cartoon incarnation, SIGMA 6 (an atrocity IMHO). It’s a shame that the upcoming RISE OF COBRA movie wasn’t written and produced by Warren himself. He would have done it more justice.

It’s New Comic Book Day!
by LoneWolf on Jan.22, 2009, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

With the Irken Elite back in our hands, we no longer have to walk in this cold weather to the comic book store! Pretty light week, and I ended picking up the second to last issue of Robin which was part 6 of a story arc, so I guess that means I’ll have to hunt for the previous 5 issues next time I’m in the store. The only reason it was in my pile was that I wanted to know where this title, as well as Nightwing, was going after the Batman R.I.P. storyline (which I’m still confused on, and must re-read). And with this whole Face of Evil thing going on, do I bother getting the one-shots to feed my completionist disorder? Maybe I’ll wait for the collected hardcover graphic novel.

It’s New Comic Book Day!
by LoneWolf on Aug.28, 2008, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

Another big week in comics! Runaways Vol. 3 launched with the creative team of Terry Moore and Humberto Ramos. Old Man Logan part 3: Logan is still being a pussy and not being the best he is at what he used to do. KICK ASS continues to… kick ass. Sadly, it is now gonna be made into a shitty movie much like WANTED. My respect for Mark Millar is pretty much out the window. And as always, DC, my safety net, has several titles out that I can’t wait to read through: Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes, JSA and some Final Crisis stuff. Also Doktor Sleepless # 8 has finally hit the shelves! I’ve been waiting for this ever since I picked up issues 1-7 at Wizard World this year.

- KICK-ASS # 4
- MARVEL: YOUR UNIVERSE SAGA

PICK OF THE WEEK: Durr! It’s DOKTOR SLEEPLESS!
Doktor Sleepless returns to a regular schedule! Heavenside has seen better days. Bodies are starting to pile up, more are starting to get sick, and all the things people have always taken for granted are starting to not work. The promises of the future may all have been broken, but the Doktor has stayed true to his word – it’s getting so the only constant in people’s lives is the nightly Doktor Sleepless broadcast. And although that may be just how he wants it, that’s what frightens Sing the most. But with everyone listening intently to the Doktor’s every word, there may be no one left to listen to what she has to say! Warren Ellis’ satirical-political science fiction novel continues its on-going run!
MARVEL UNIVERSE’S CONTINUITY IS SO FUBAR’D THAT: They have to make a comic in which UATU, the WATCHER, reveals all the previous major story arcs before SECRET SHITTY INVASION. Luckily readers won’t have feel that they wasted any money because MARVEL: YOUR UNIVERSE SAGA is FREE. So go in a few times and pick up some emergency toilet paper for free. You can also use it for bird cages, or any situation in which you need shit paper.
