It’s Free Comic Book Day!
by LoneWolf on May.03, 2009, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

Yesterday, I went to my first ever Free Comic Book Day event at my local comic book store, Keith’s Komix. There was I greeted by Keith, the store president, and his family. I spent a good deal of time looking over the comics since there were a plethora of free comics to choose from and there was a 5 comic limit.
- BLACKEST NIGHT # 0
- THE NEW MUTANTS SAGA
- WOLVERINE SAGA
- RADICAL COMICS SHOWCASE

PICK OF THE DAY: BLACKEST NIGHT # 0
Blackest Night #0 will be released on Free Comic Book Day 2009, recaps the key moments from the Sinestro Corps War and Rage of the Red Lanterns that led to Blackest Night, and will give readers everything they need to know about the Green Lantern universe, their ongoing War of Light, and their dark days ahead.[11] Ivan Reis will leave the Green Lantern monthly title with the beginning of Blackest Night to focus on the mini-series and a later project involving Geoff Johns.[3] When Blackest Night begins and Reis leaves the main Green Lantern title, he will be replaced by Doug Mahnke. ~ via Wikipedia
What David Benioff and Skip Woods SHOULD HAVE CONSULTED when drafting the X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE screenplay: WOLVERINE SAGA.
This free comic sums up Wolverine’s history and would have been a good source of reference for the live action (EPIC FAILURE) that is X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. The writers could have read this in one sitting if they didn’t have enough time to fully read up on Wolverine’s history in the plethora of trade paperbacks currently available at any comic books store.

It’s New Comic Book Day!
by LoneWolf on Dec.28, 2008, under A Comic Book Guy and His Comics

There were comics out on Xmas Eve. However, we waited til Friday to pick them up because Keith’s Komix was having a 25% off everything sale til New Year’s. I was actually gonna pick up the the Batman/Wonder Woman JLA Build-A-Scene statue but with ECHO getting repair work done, I figure I’ll hold off on spending any more money on my nerdy desires. It was a light week for comics, so hopefully I’ll be able to get through them before New Year’s and no longer be behind in reading.

CUT FOR 2009: WOLVERINE: FIRST CLASS # 10
We drastically need to cut some titles for 2009 to save some more money. Wolverine: First Class made the cut list because it just doesn’t seem like this title will rise above the main Wolverine book and the Origins series in terms of art and writing. Since it’s more geared to a younger crowd, like Wolverine and Power Pack, Wolverine: First Class doesn’t feel like it belongs with the Wolverine titles at all. The book feels more like it’s from parallel dimension or other Marvel Universe, like BRAND NEW DAY.
PICK OF THE WEEK: THE FLASH # 247

Cover by Brian Stelfreeze“This Was Your Life, Wally West” concludes! As Flash stands alone without his powers or family to support him, only one question remains – is this end of the Fastest Man Alive?
This was a pretty good story arc and nice setup for the rebirth of Barry Allen! Yup! Geoff Johns will be bringing Barry Allen back as The Flash in FLASH REBIRTH!
Just as he did with Hal, he wanted to do with Barry. A plan was made and a story set – a story that would encapsulate everything and everyone in Flash’s history. Not just Barry, but Jay, Wally, Bart, Iris, Max… well, you get the idea. BARRY ALLEN, THE FLASH: REBIRTH is a celebration of everything that was, is and will be great about the character. We are building on the brilliant foundation and history of the Flashes while adding to the future. ~ Dan Didio, DC Nation
I wonder if they’ll start over at one or continue the number like they did after Bart died? Either way, I’m excited! DC Nation FTW!
